1) Right now I am using Benefit's bad gal mascara. I had heard lots about this mascara but hadn't bothered trying it just yet. Wow, I am impressed. Great, big brush that actually separates and lengthens lashes. The brush looks similar to the DIOR SHOW brush (see review below) but this one actually works and separates the lashes. Great formula as well - it's not gloopy or cakey, but goes on very well and comes off easily with eye make-up remover. Gives very defined, separated lashes. $28 at Shoppers

2) DIOR SHOW - this is a classic. Great big brush for big volume and separation of lashes. But honestly, the Bad Gal mascara has taken it over for me. The thing with Dior Show is that you have to use a lot of coats to get the right defined bold look. It also doesn't separate lashes as well as the Bad Gal brush. $32 at Shoppers

3) Cover Girl Lash Blast - if you don't want to spend around the $30 for mascara, I would go with the Cover Girl Lash Blast. The brush is a little tough to get used to initially but once you get the hang of it, the mascara gives you very defined and bold lashes. $10 at Shoppers
Oh and also, yes of course I have tried the Lancome defencils lines of mascara. I really don't like any of them. They are pricey and they separate lashes TOO MUCH. I don't want crazy separated lashes that are super bold and dark. I want them feathery and like a fan. Anyway, not a fan of the Lancome mascaras at all. Don't waste your money.
